In 2007 as Chris Kelly was just beginning his campaign for the House of Representatives, he met with a group of Southern Boone citizens to better understand their local needs and priorities. Two of the issues that emerged in the discussion that day were an overpass at the airport and a library for Southern Boone County.
Now, one day apart, both have come to pass, as Rep. Kelly prepares to leave HD 24, including southern and western Boone County, in order to serve the citizens of Columbia in the newly redistricted HD 45.
As Kelly noted in his remarks at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Airport Overpass on November 16, the project required a great deal of cooperation among private sector and governmental entities in bringing the project to reality. A “fast-tracked” project in MoDOT terms, Kelly praised MoDOT for their efficiency in finding the funds for the Overpass and new outer road system from the savings in other projects.
