MAVO Press ReleaseRep. Kelly Honored by COLUMBIA, Mo. – State Rep Chris Kelly, D-Columbia, has received an award from the Missouri Association of Veterans Organizations (MAVO) “in appreciation for his outstanding service to Missouri Veterans through (his) efforts in the 2009 Missouri House of Representatives”. “The primary function of the Missouri Association of Veterans,” said MAVO Chairman, Jesse Jones, “is to coordinate veterans’ issues through the legislative process. Each year the Missouri Association of Veterans selects one Senator and one Representative who are most supportive of veterans’ legislative priorities. We are proud to announce that Rep. Chris Kelly is our 2009 award winner.” MAVO represents a coalition of twenty-two statewide, chartered veterans’ organizations in Missouri and, through those organizations, represents 149,000 members and nearly 590,000 veterans. Among other organizations, MAVO includes the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion, The Marine Corps League, the Military Officers Association of America, Disabled American Veterans, and the Paralyzed Veterans of America. “I am pleased to receive this award on behalf of the nearly 600,000 veterans in Missouri,” Kelly said. “I hope that we are able to sustain funding for and meet MAVO’s legislative priorities to the extent possible in this difficult budgetary year.” |
